Check out a slide presentation featuring highlights from the American Council on Education/Office of Women in Higher Education The Network: Identifying, Developing the Leadership, and Advancing Women in Higher Education Women Administrators in North Carolina Higher Education (WANCHE) is North Carolina's response to the challenge of the American Council on Education's National Identification Project (ACE/NIP) for the advancement of women in higher education administration. Operating as a network rather than a membership organization, WANCHE is led by a state coordinator who is appointed by the ACE director of the National Identification Project and an executive board of administrators representative of public and private, two- and four-year colleges and universities. Participation in WANCHE is open to all women administrators, as well as to other women and men who subscribe to its vision, mission, and goals. The WANCHE Mission To advance women in higher education administration and leadership. Maintaining itself as an active network, WANCHE brings visibility to women administrators on NC campuses, provides support and encouragement for their efforts, assists in their professional development, and identifies new career opportunities within NC as well as around the nation. The WANCHE Vision WANCHE envisions a more just society built on the shared talents of all people. Therefore, we are dedicated to the advancement of women as leaders in society and particularly within higher education. Because our colleges and universities are places of self-discovery for those who will shape the future, they are also critical arenas for the presence of women in leadership roles. WANCHE is committed to developing a system of higher learning in which men and women have an opportunity to share equally in the management of our institutions, to create new approaches to learning, and to be partners in forming the educational enterprise of the 21st century.
