Online Class Orientation Download
In an effort to make higher education accessible to all persons, Roanoke-Chowan Community College proudly offers distance learning courses--courses that can be taken at home using a computer or television, and generally allow the student to attend classes at any time and place they choose.
Distance learning courses include Internet-based courses (found on the College's Web site), telecourses (broadcast by the UNC Center for Public Television), college-by-cassette (taped telecourses provided for students), and teleweb courses (a combination of telecourses with Internet interaction), and North Carolina Information Highway courses (2-way audio/video interaction with an instructor at a remote location) offered in conjunction with Fayetteville Technical Community College.
To determine if you are a good candidate for distance learning courses, take the quiz, Is Distance Learning for Me? If, after taking and scoring the quiz, you are still not sure whether you are a good candidate, contact a counselor in Student Services at 252-862-1305 or sandrac@roanokechowan.edu.
Registration
To register for distance learning courses, individuals must submit an application for admission to Student Services and meet other admission's requirements. Official documentation showing receipt of a high school diploma or GED also must be furnished. The admission's process should begin as early as possible and in advance of the College's semester/term registration period.
Students meeting requirements for admission' register on campus for distance learning courses, follow registration procedures as other curricular students, and pay the same tuition. Students who are out of the area may contact Sandra Copeland, Director of Counseling Services, at sandrac@roanokechowan.edu or 252-862-1225. Also, Seleeda Grantum, Distance Learning Coordinator, may be of assistance; contact her at grantums@roanokechowan.edu or 252-862-1232.
Tuition, up to 16 credit hours, is $39.50 per credit hour for in-state students and $219.50 per credit hour for out-of-state students. This fee is waived for NC residents 65 years of age or older. Tuition and any other fees that may be required must be paid when registering. VISA and MasterCard are accepted. The costs of textbooks and other instructional materials vary.
