What is the Huskins Cooperative Program?
The Huskins Cooperative Program is a State of North Carolina approved program that falls within the guidelines of the North Carolina Administrative Code. Students in grades 9-12, that are enrolled in a local high school, are eligible to apply. However, students must meet the same prerequisite and course admission requirements as adult college students. Interested home school students must apply through their local public high school.
All courses offered are approved by the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) for RCCC to offer in the Huskins Program. The particular course offerings are listed in the agreements between the local high schools and the College.
Cost of Tuition and Textbooks
There is no tuition for high school students that participate in this program. Students should check with the high schools in which they are enrolled to determine who is responsible for the cost of textbooks and other fees.
Student Eligibility and Application Process
Students must be enrolled with one of the high schools in the RCCC service area (that has a Huskins agreement with RCCC), must be taking at least a halftime high school schedule, and making satisfactory progress toward graduation. Applications must be submitted through the high school in which the students are enrolled, accompanied by recommendations from the school’s chief administrative officer, and approved by the president of RCCC. Students must also meet the same prerequisite and course admission requirements as other RCCC students.
