Do you know help is available?
The Computer-Assisted Instruction Lab (CAI Lab) is open to students to enhance their skills in English, math, reading and other subjects. Students may be referred by their instructors, or they may voluntarily use the Lab.
If students feel that they need additional help, they may ask their instructors for CAI referrals. Their instructors will be glad to assist their students in reaching their goals through CAI Lab referrals.
The referral process begins when an instructor completes a Computer-Assisted Instruction Lab: Faculty Referral Form with student name, course information, and areas for practice. Upon receipt of referrals, students must contact the CAI Lab Coordinator to schedule times that are convenient for them. The Lab Coordinator explains to the students the referral and the sign-in processes and the operation of the tutorial software. The CAI Lab Coordinator or other Learning Resources Center staff members are also available for further assistance with the software and computers as needed.
Students should complete the prescribed exercises to insure success in their courses. Also, by completing the referral practice, students help to support the CAI Lab through funds provided by the State of North Carolina.
In addition to referral services, the CAI Lab helps students to reach their goals by providing software to complete assignments or to take on-line courses. The CAI Lab is open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and on Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. However, operating hours may vary with the semester and with school closings.
