Alternative Learning Center (ALC) This structured, but flexible, learning center offers various levels of academic study to both students and area residents. Study is on an independent basis, with one-on-one instructional assistance provided as requested. You set your own attendance and study hours, and your success will depend upon the amount of time you spend studying, the academic progress you make, and the fulfillment of mandatory class attendance hours. Make-up testing for curricular courses is also a service of the Alternative Learning Center. However, you must bring your current student ID when requesting a make-up test. Curricular Courses Offered through the ALC are listed in the schedule of courses published each semester and may help alleviate class scheduling conflicts. These courses are as follows: HIS 221, RED 070, and RED 080. Advisor approval is required before registering for these individual study courses. Individuals registering for credit courses must follow the same registration guidelines as other students enrolled in curricular courses, including payment of tuition and fees. Special Interest Courses Offered through the ALC Foreign language, vocabulary, reading, and other special interest courses are offered on an independent study basis to individuals at least 16 years of age. | |
