Roanoke-Chowan Community College Welcomes Shanequa Brockers as Admissions Records Specialist
AHOSKIE, NC – Roanoke-Chowan Community College (R-CCC) is pleased to announce the addition of Shanequa Brockers to its Student Affairs team as Admissions Records Specialist. In this role, Brockers will manage student records and assist with the admissions process, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality and exceptional service for prospective and current students.
A native of Windsor, North Carolina, Brockers brings a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to student success. She graduated from Bertie High School in 2003 and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Shaw University. She later completed a Master’s Degree in Human Services at The University of the Rockies. Brockers is also a proud member of the National Association of Social Workers, a certified Substitute Teacher, and a certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
Her diverse professional background spans healthcare, education, customer service and counseling. As an EMT, Brockers provided emergency medical care in high-pressure situations, demonstrating strong decision-making and communication skills. Her experience as a substitute teacher and substance abuse counselor reflects her passion for helping others and fostering engagement. Brockers also brings valuable customer service expertise, having worked in retail environments where she honed her ability to work with diverse individuals and resolve issues effectively.
As a first-generation college graduate, Brockers understands the challenges students face when navigating the admissions process. “I know firsthand how overwhelming it can be to enroll in college with little guidance,” she shared. “My goal is to make the process less stressful and more achievable for every student, especially those who may not have family support.”
In her new role, Brockers aims to serve as a guide for prospective students, helping them move confidently through each step of the admissions process. She is committed to creating a welcoming campus culture and ensuring that every student feels supported from the moment they express interest in R-CCC.
“I chose to work at R-CCC because of its strong engagement with students and its dedication to their academic success,” Brockers said. “I look forward to making a positive impact on both the campus and the broader community.”
“We are thrilled to welcome Shanequa Brockers to Roanoke-Chowan Community College,” said Dr. Murray J. Williams, President of R-CCC. “Her extensive experience in student engagement, combined with her passion for helping others, aligns perfectly with our mission to support students from the moment they express interest in college.
