Dedication ceremony set for February 7th for new education center in Rich Square

(AHOSKIE) Roanoke-Chowan Community College and the Town of Rich Square will hold a Ribbon Cutting and Dedication Ceremony for the new Chief Joe White Education Center opening in Rich Square on Tuesday, February 7th, 11:00 am – 1:00 pm.

The center will be open for tours and students may register for upcoming classes including Basic Computer Skills, Nurse Aide, Emergency Medical Technician, and truck driver training (CDL).

“We are excited to offer adult continuing education classes at the newly renovated education center,” states Stephanie Benson, executive vice president for workforce development and institutional effectiveness. “In collaboration with the Town of Rich Square, R-CCC is providing certification training that often leads to immediate jobs in the Roanoke-Chowan area.”

The new center, partially funded by the Golden LEAF Foundation, will be officially dedicated to the memory of Chief Joe White, former chief of police for Rich Square. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held and family members of Chief Joe White will be recognized.

In addition to certification courses, R-CCC will offer human resource development programs to assist community members to seek career opportunities.

The new center (former dialysis center) is located at 324 East Jackson Street in Rich Square. The open house event is from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm with a dedication ceremony scheduled to begin at 12 noon. A light lunch will be served.
