Worthington Earns National Workforce Development Credential
AHOSKIE, NC–– Roanoke Chowan Community College (R CCC) is recognizing Natasha Worthington, dean of workforce and continuing education, for earning the Certified Workforce Development Professional (CWDP) credential through the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals.
The CWDP is a nationally recognized, competency based credential that signifies advanced professional knowledge, ethical practice and demonstrated experience across key workforce development areas, including workforce policy, program design, employer engagement and career services. To earn the credential, candidates must meet rigorous eligibility requirements related to education and field experience and successfully complete a comprehensive assessment aligned with national workforce standards.
Worthington joins a select group of more than 1,300 workforce professionals nationwide who hold the CWDP designation. As of February 2026, only 49 certified professionals work in North Carolina, underscoring the distinction of the achievement.
“This certification reflects a commitment not only to professional excellence, but to the communities and employers we serve,” Worthington said. “Earning the CWDP strengthened my perspective on building responsive workforce programs that truly meet regional labor market needs while supporting adult learners and those navigating career transitions.”
Worthington’s role as dean of workforce and continuing education places her at the forefront of aligning college programs with regional economic demands, expanding employer partnerships and ensuring high quality, accessible workforce training.
R CCC President Dr. Murray J. Williams said Worthington’s accomplishment highlights both her leadership and the college’s broader mission.
“Natasha Worthington’s achievement represents the highest standards of professionalism in workforce development,” Williams said. “Her CWDP certification reinforces Roanoke Chowan Community College’s commitment to accountability, innovation and delivering workforce education that drives economic opportunity for our region.”
The CWDP credential reflects sustained dedication to evidence based practice, cross sector collaboration and continuous professional growth within an evolving workforce system, which are values that align closely with R CCC’s workforce and continuing education mission.
