I’m so glad I came to R-CCC for my ‘Class A’ Truck Driver Training. It’s a great opportunity to get experience with a tractor trailer truck and then to be able to operate your own business. I get calls every day from recruiters looking for truck drivers. They can’t find enough drivers to fill the supply chain need in the country right now. This course has the up-to-date information you need to get a driving job.

-Ralph Edwards

Roanoke-Chowan Community College recently completed construction of the new official truck driver test/practice pad located at the Universal Technical Training Center on the college’s main campus. Nucor Steel Hertford County partnered with the college to fund a portion of the costs to build the training pad.

The course includes classroom and computer training as well as field driving in late-model tractor-trailers exclusively used for student training. The new training pad will be used for testing so students may receive certification locally at R-CCC. The demand for truck drivers has increased and often students are pre-hired by trucking companies even before graduation. Grants and scholarships are available to assist students with tuition and fees. For more information about CDL training and certification, contact the R-CCC Office of Continuing Education at 252-862-1307.
