R-CCC Welcomes Helen Lassiter as New Recruitment & Student
Life Coordinator
AHOSKIE, NC –Roanoke-Chowan Community College (R-CCC) is proud to announce the appointment of Helen V. Lassiter as the new Recruitment & Student Life Coordinator. Lassiter officially began her role on March 24, 2025. She brings more than a decade of experience in education and public health, with a strong track record of student engagement, program development and community partnership.
In her new role, Lassiter will lead efforts to enhance student recruitment, retention and campus life programming. Her background includes years of service with Hertford County Public Schools, where she served as both a teacher and instructional partner, as well as experience with the North Carolina Department of Public Health supporting youth development and family engagement.
“Helen Lassiter’s passion for student success and her ability to build meaningful relationships make her an ideal fit for this role,” said Dr. Murray J. Williams, President of Roanoke-Chowan Community College. “Her experience in both education and community outreach will be instrumental in strengthening our student life initiatives and expanding our recruitment efforts across the area.”
Lassiter, a Shaw University graduate with a degree in sociology, is known for her student-centered approach in education. She has led initiatives that improved academic performance and outcomes, stewarded strong partnerships and created enriching experiences for students.
“I’m honored to join the R-CCC family and serve in a role that allows me to connect students with opportunities that can transform their lives,” Lassiter said. “I believe in the power of education to uplift communities and I’m excited to help students find their path, feel supported and thrive both inside and outside the classroom.”
Lassiter is also active in community service through Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and has supported youth mentoring and health initiatives across the region.
