R-CCC to Launch Free Child Care Academy Feb. 16

                                                                       

AHOSKIE, NC– Roanoke-Chowan Community College (R-CCC) will offer a free two week Child Care Academy beginning Feb. 16 to prepare individuals for immediate employment in licensed North Carolina childcare centers.

The academy runs Feb. 16–27 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the R CCC campus, with extended hours on Feb. 25 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Participants will graduate with a portfolio of essential training certificates required for entry level roles in early childhood education.

Training topics include health and safety, outdoor play and learning environments, infant and toddler safe sleep practices, rating scales and the North Carolina Foundations for Early Learning and Development.

The Child Care Academy is funded through a grant from the North Carolina Division of Child Development and Early Education, utilizing Preschool Development Grant Birth through Five (PDG B 5) funds.
