R-CCC President Received Black History Month Community Award
AHOSKIE, NC– Dr. Murray J. Williams, president of Roanoke-Chowan Community College, was honored with the Black History Month Community Award by the Hertford County Board of Commissioners. The award recognized individuals who have made significant and lasting contributions to Hertford County and its residents.
The Board of Commissioners presented the award during its Feb. 16, 2026, meeting at the Hertford County Judicial Center in Winton.
Williams said she was humbled by the recognition and grateful for the opportunity to serve the community.
“I was deeply honored to receive this award from the Hertford County Board of Commissioners,” Williams said. “Hertford County is a community filled with resilience, pride and promise, and it has been a privilege to work alongside so many dedicated individuals who are committed to creating opportunities for our residents. This recognition reflected the collective effort of our college, our partners and the people we serve every day.”
